We are building Musubi, a shared calendar designed around the people whose time is connected: partners, families, friends, and small groups.
It is the first independent product growing out of FRGTN. Made by the studio, but intentionally given its own name, visual language, website, and room to become something of its own.
Why another calendar
Calendars are very good at storing events. They are less good at expressing how time is shared between people.
A plan may belong to more than one person. A family event should not need to be copied into several places. A shared week should be understandable without turning a personal calendar into a project-management system.
Musubi starts from that relationship. The calendar is not only a grid of dates; it is a view of the time people hold together.
A separate product by FRGTN
Musubi lives at musubi.pro. That separation matters.
Someone looking for a shared calendar should not need to navigate a studio portfolio first. Musubi needs to speak directly about the problem it solves, develop its own community, and make product decisions in its own context.
FRGTN remains the maker behind it. The studio provides the values and long-term responsibility; the product gets its own voice.
What we care about while building it
The direction is guided by a few simple principles:
- Shared time should stay understandable. Adding people must not turn the interface into administration.
- Attention is part of the cost. Notifications and reminders should be useful, not a reason to manufacture engagement.
- Ordinary actions should feel ordinary. Creating, changing, and sharing an event should not require learning a system.
- The product should be possible to trust. Clear language and predictable behaviour matter as much as the feature list.
Building in the open
Musubi is an active product, not a finished case study. The edges will change as it is used, tested, and understood more clearly.
We will use these Notes for the decisions that deserve more context: product language, technical trade-offs, calm interaction patterns, and the realities of operating a small independent product.
